Bray & District Chamber of Commerce organisers of the Bray St. Patrick’s Festival have announced the full programme of events taking place from Wednesday 16th to Tuesday 22nd of March.

The parade is one of the largest on the east coast and we are expecting over 20,000 people to line the route starting at the Town Hall moving down the Main Street and on to the Seafront. ‘Celebrating Now’ is the theme of this year’s parade and upwards of 50 groups from many different backgrounds have been working on their entries over the past few months and all will be ready to show off their hard work to the huge crowds.

“The Committee have put in a huge amount of effort into planning this annual event over the past months. Everyone is really looking forward to the Festival and the parade. The amount of participants and visiting groups is well up on previous years and we have seen a great deal of effort in their entries.
It is one of the best community events of the year and we are really looking forward to seeing what they have to offer”, commented President of Bray Chamber Mick Glynn.

Bray welcomes many of the visiting bands from California, Ohio, Croatia and the UK. Watch the creations from Signal Arts, the collaboration of the award winning street performers Artastic and the Mermaid Arts Centre, display their elements of the theme. It is our pleasure to have Niall Benson from Ardmore Rovers, this year’s Bray Person of the year, who is at the forefront of the community, as our Parade Grand Marshall. Niall has been involved with Ardmore Rovers for over 20 years. All groups will get to show off their talents to the crowd as well as the judging panel of local dignitaries.

“We hope everyone visiting Bray has a brilliant time during the Festival week. It is great to be involved in bringing a big event like this to the Town Centre” stated Mick Glynn

Other activities on the 17th include a Pre Parade party on the Main Street from 2pm with DJ’s, International Street Theatre, and an American and Vintage car procession.

Other highlights of the festival include a The ‘Big Fun Day Out’ on Saturday 19th March from 1.00pm to 3.00pm. The afternoon of free entertainment for the whole family takes place at the Civic Centre. Enjoy face painting, Irish dancing, international street performers from London, Convent Garden. The old favourites are back too, a full week long funfair on Bray Seafront, Ceili Breakfast at the Boat House, St. Patricks Eve Ceol agus Craic, a Bray Head Walk and creating a special festival spirit and atmosphere by greening some of the buildings around the town.
